The Walnut Restaurant is found within the historical Royal on the Park Hotel overlooking the Botanical Gardens. The restaurant is steeped in traditional elegance, The Walnut Restaurant and Lounge Bar offers guests a Modern Australian à la carte menu, exciting monthly promotional menus and accompanied by an extensive wine and cocktail list. The cuisine is ever-evolving with tantalizing new dishes being created with the best and freshest local produce available each season. Wines are chosen to match the changing menu and to ensure that all tastes are catered for.
In keeping with this our chefs design a weekly degustation menu, available every Saturday with paired wines chosen by our Sommelier to provide the ultimate dining experience
The Walnut Restaurant is perfect for professional business lunches, pre-theater appetizers, romantic dinners or special occasions in one of the Private Dining Rooms. An impressive hot and cold full buffet breakfast is served each morning Monday - Sunday.
The Walnut Restuarant won the Bronze Medal at The Australian Culinary Federation Salon Culinaire 2011, Jimmy Sawyer Restaurant of the Year Competition and in 2016 a ‘certificate of excellence for service’ from Tripadvisor.

“Impressive, a great evening” We thoroughly enjoyed our dinner at the Walnut Restaurant, great decor, plenty of space between tables, comfortable settings and a pretty outlook across to the botanical gardens. The food was delicious, scallops for entree, spanner crab spaghettini for main and a cheese platter to share, all washed down with some very nice wine. The two waiters, Andrew and Edward (I think) were wonderful, professional, friendly, attentive without being over the top. They certainly enhanced our dining experience.

“Great degustation” My wife and I celebrated our wedding anniversary at the Walnut Restaurant and had the most wonderful degustation meal. The service was superb and Rudy the maitre'd was an excellent host. The wine matching to the meal was perfect. Terrific night - thanks to Rudy and the Walnut Restaurant

“6 courses with matching wines”. $130 a head was great value for money excellent service chef come out to ask how we would like our eye fillet cooked I asked him where it come from and he was happy to share with us .
take your time to enjoy it maybe go for a walk between every couple of courses . the restaurant is beautifully decorated really a classy joint the kind of place you expect the rat pack to dine at . we really enjoyed it and will be back

“AMAZING” I can't even begin to describe the experience we had at this Restaurant. The service is impeccable, with a personal waiter who knew the menu inside out. The first bite of the scallops was heaven. The duck is the best meal I've ever had. Please pay this Restaurant a visit when in Brisbane

Pleasant surprise! We stayed at Royal on the Park many years ago and we were delighted with the refurbs to the rooms but the best surprise was the restaurant. What a find. This is a place that I would go back to even if we were not staying at the hotel. I loved that the head chef came out into the restaurant to make sure that we had all enjoyed our meal and he was happy to share some of his secrets. Service staff were amazing - on the ball but not "in your face". A really pleasurable experience.

"Excellent food, used as room service.” We stayed at The Royal on the park hotel and used this restaurant for our room service. We used it several times and the quality of the food was consistent across the menu and even when eating it in our room. Good sized portions and good value for money. We ate various things but the burger was particularly good, large and good quality.

Stunning European Service and food Excellent restaurant in pleasant and comfortable surroundings with stylish service and great food prepared by the Belgian chef. Had the 3 tier seafood platter for 2 with an excellent selection of hot/cold seafoods including calamari, moreton bay bugs, fresh fish, prawns, fresh oysters, NZ mussels. Would be my restaurant of choice when next visit Brisbane

The Walnut Room in the Royal on the Park Hotel, Brisbane offers an outstanding dining experience. Full of old world charm, beautiful setting and one of the best meals I've had in a restaurant. They are very service oriented and treat you like royalty! Definitely a must do when in Brisbane! If you stay at the hotel and join their free loyalty program you receive a discount off your dining experience. Will definitely be back!

If Brisbane residents think this is an eatery just for in-house Royal on the Park guests then they are missing out on one of their city's true culinary delights. My wife and I dine there regularly and are always impressed by both the quality and variety of the food, not to mention the excellent service. Also, for a 5+ star restaurant, the prices are less than what you would expect for the service provided. Nothing is ever too much trouble for the extremely pleasant and competent staff.

We stayed in the hotel (HIGHLY recommend!!) and ate downstairs because we were tired. Fantastic surprise to have such great service and amazingly fabulous food way beyond our expectations. The duck was so wonderful - cooked to perfection! Lo and behold, the interested chef actually came out to see how we liked it! It was such a pleasure to be able to congratulate him on its perfection.
The service was also faultless. Police, respectful and knowledgeable. It doesn't get better than this.

The food here wasnt innovative cuisine but who cares it was absolutely delicious. Lamb shanks falling off the bone. steak done to perfection. both served with scrumptious sides, sauces and vegetables. Desserts that had us in heaven. The chef here knows what hes doing and he does it well. The wait staff were excellent. and the chef came by to check that we were happy with our food. A lovely meal.

My wife and I have eaten in many hotel restaurants but nothing comes close to this. I have never wanted to lick the plate as much as I did tonight. If not for my wife I may well have done just that. Exceptional food and service in a beautiful period restaurant that is classic in every sense of the word. We had scallops and Mini Lamb Wellington for entree and Crispy Skin Duck for mains. Both were perfectly cooked and presented. Dessert was also worth having.

We came back to the Walnut Restaurant for our First Anniversary. We were married at Royal and wanted to return for our special night. The staff were just delightful, we didnt have to wait for our meals and everything was just lovely and the food was especially delicious. We felt so special.
